Here are a couple of my favourite money savings tips. You can practice these for a while, and see if your financial/spending situation becomes more clear – find out where all your money is going!

1. Save ALL your receipts. You can get a receipt spike,  or a zipper bag from the dollar store to hold all your receipts. Put all your for the month on there, then look back at the end of each month. You can even separate each month to be more organized!
2. Use an online finance tracker such as Mint to help keep track of what and where you’re spending!
3. At each payday, withdraw all your money in cash. This might not be for everyone if you dislike carrying a lot of cash – but it helps greatly with a visual idea of what you’re spending.
4.  Sell your old stuff. Clothes/Home decor is often . Facebook is a great outlet to sell things, it can be quicker than Kijiji and eBay, and almost every city will have a “BUY AND SELL” Facebook group. You can post your items, and people will comment and offer, then come pick it up.
5. CUT OUT FAST FOOD. Yes, it sounds impossible.  But for 30 days, see how much less you spend when you avoid buying ANY fast food. That means, no coffee’s form Tim’s, no donuts or bagels, nothing. It will surprise you!
